Over 80% of the energy used in the average home is consumed by the boiler, to produce heating and hot water. With almost 1⁄2 of the UK’s carbon dioxide emissions actually coming from energy we use in our homes, you can play a part in both reducing your emissions, as well as saving money through the use of controls.

The most effective way of using energy efficiently, in your home, is through proper control of your central heating system. Heating controls allow you to choose when you want to be warm, how warm you want to be and where you want the warmth.

It isn’t just the choice of a boiler that can improve efficiency - fitting advanced heating controls could reduce your energy consumption and save you money off your heating bills. They cost so little extra, but make a big difference. With controls being both self adapting and self learning, they can adjust themselves to the way your systems work to gain efficiency.

•    Honeywell programmable room thermostats are approved as Load Compensators.
•    Honeywell programmable room thermostats have Optimum Start
•    All Honeywell wireless thermostats also act as Load Compensators
•    If you want to divide your home into zones, Honeywell radiator controllers work with programmable thermostats, without the need to change existing pipe work.

It is a legal requirement to fit controls on all new installations, or when changing a boiler. In a home which has no existing controls, you can reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 20% through cost effective home controls, such as programmable thermostats and temperature controls.

Financial help is often available through the Government, energy suppliers and local authorities, in the form of grants which can go towards the cost of home improvements.

In simple terms, by reducing waste, reducing demand and improving efficiency you can go along way towards saving energy.
