Honeywell T4 the next chapter in programmable thermostats

T4 SERIES: REDUCING THE THERMOSTAT DEFECIT

6.5 million homes in the UK are still without an efficient thermostat¹. Also, a brand-new Building Research & Information report on ‘How installers select and explain domestic heating Controls’, conducted by University College London, has revealed that there is still a lack of understanding amongst homeowners on how to use heating controls, and a misconception that in order to realise energy savings, ‘occupants must actively program their thermostat and select settings which result in energy efficiency’².

Enter the Honeywell T4 range of programmable thermostats – Honeywell’s brand-new range of programmable thermostats, designed to deliver energy efficiency with minimal user-interaction. The T4 packed full of automatic smart, intelligent features that will ensure homeowners automatically get the full benefit of inbuilt energy efficiency measures and be able to also simply control their comfort levels such as:

  • Automated modulation control with TPI or OpenTherm improves energy efficiency
  • Optimum stop, start and delayed stop features learn how the room is heated, reducing user effort and improving heating efficiency
  • Screen interface offers easy and optimal heating adjustment

And it’s just as easy to install in three simple steps – wire, power up and test and finally, configure – before it’s ready to handover to the homeowner. A new wireless receiver box, redesigned with a flip-up wiring bar for easy installation also makes the wiring process more accessible than ever before.

Andy Mansfield, marketing communications manager at Honeywell comments: “We’ve launched the T4 to provide automatic smart energy saving and change the perception that heating controls are complicated to use, and make them more accessible to both the installer and homeowner. Just as not every installer wants to fit connected controls, not every homeowner wants one, so it’s really important that we focus on giving this proportion of the population exactly what they want and need. There is a real demand for a simple-to-use, modern, programmable thermostat which comprises a level of automatic control customers now expect from today’s technology, to deliver higher energy efficiency – and the T4 does just this.”

The T4 is compatible with any boiler and has ease of use and installation at its core, created to simplify home temperature scheduling. The thermostat is available in three models: the T4 standard, wired model, ideal for retrofit solutions; T4R wireless version with OpenTherm control via the receiver box offering an easy switch over from an existing wireless receiver box; and the T4M, wired modulating version with on-screen OpenTherm boiler information for additional user control. All models have 7-day 5/2 day & single day programming with a host of features making the T4 the best choice for a simple solution.

Andy continued: “Honeywell now offers a model of thermostat for every single type of home or customer in the UK. Now we have the tools, as an industry, we need to work on reducing the thermostat deficit and ensuring every home has an efficient set of heating controls.”

The T4 is suitable for domestic and light commercial applications and is available now from all good plumbing and heating merchants and electrical wholesalers. For more information, please visit http://www.honeywelluk.com/products/Programmable-Thermostats/.
